Default Pcv

I just bought that chrome air breather for my truck and it doesnt have a spot to hook up the PCV. i took it out for now, but i was wondering if there was something made to block the hole that looks kinda decent. or should i get a breather that has the PCV hole? i dont know what it will do with it not hooked up. i havent noticed anything yet... and the hole is still wide open too

No, the breather filter hose goes to the air filter.
The PCV (not PVC) goes from one of the valve covers to the intake manifold.

It's pretty important to have this system working.

I can't really agree with you there (unless you live in a strict emissions state). I was under the impression it was nothing more than a fancy crankcase breather. It is currently set up to prevent emission of oil vapor from getting to the outside air without going back through the engine to be burned, but it should work just fine if you get rid of it. I was planning on replacing it with an open filter when I get a new intake filter.

Well, you sure don't want to plug the holes in the valve covers.
Poor working, or just plainly removing the PCV system can, among other things, lead to oil sludge.
Just fix it right.

LOL, yeah you definatley don't want to plug the hole, but most stock cars just have an open filter there for performance reasons (so they don't suck in oil saturated air)

Yes, the reason for the PCV valve is to do a good job of getting the old fumes and everything out so that the fresh air can get in.

I've always wondered why its only on one bank, what about getting the fumes out of the other bank?

Here's a pic from the service manual.

Huh, maybe I would be better off to leave that alone.

The PCV valve (right side of the 3.9/5.2) lets fresh air from the intake into the engine and the breather (drivers side) lets dirty air into the bottom of the air cleaner to be burnt in the engine. You can eliminate the hose by just letting the dirty air vent into the engine compartment with a cheap Auto Zone breather filter. If you really want to keep the ugly rubber hose Edelbrock has a kit you can buy at most parts stores part #4207 or 4221 i don't remember which one is for the right size hose.
