Looked at the Lucas Products today
I picked up a gallon of the regular oil stabilizer. Sounds like you can use it in a lot of different things on the truck. I almost looked at the transmission fluid, but they called it "stop slip" and I didn't get it because of that. Reading the bottle it sounded like it might be a leak stopper as well as an additive, but for me, I am against leak stoppers. I figure I would rather rip the truck apart and fix the bad seal or gasket. Anyone using any of the other Lucas products? Or heard anything abut them? I know we also have a discussion from time to time regarding synthetic/non-synthetic. I also saw they have a synthetic oil stabilizer too, which, of course, can be used in synthetic and non-synthetic oils.
when i first got my truck i used straight standard millage oil... and didn't like it. Ever since I've used the stabilizer and high millage oil. (penzoil, and now castrol gtx)
Haven't changed the diff fluid yet... but thinking about doing so soon... When i doo I'll pick up some for both diffs. I usually just get the quart bottle (its 10 bux at fleet farm... considering its 15 bux a gallon of oil... I'd rather not buy the gallon.)
I also used their power steering fluid/stop leak... which happens to be the only thing that stopped my power steering from leaking (I tried about 5 other fluids).
I've always wondered if in order to switch to synthetic if it required basically an engine tear-down and cleaning, or if its as simple as just using it next oil change... Does anybody have an opinion on whether its worth it or not? its considerably more expensive, and many people i know don't bother unless it came synthetic from the factory.
