Default front diff?

ok i know this is probably a stupid question, but what kind of front diferential does our trucks have? the sticker under the hood says front axle 3000? i have called reider racing drivetrane and nobody there knows what it is. someone there said a dana 44 but i know thats a solid axle. unless they just use the same ring and pinion? do they? i will take your advise over that guys. still working on the truck spent a small fortune so far and have another one to go. as soon as i feel like i have made some progress i will post some pics i promise!

It's a Chrysler 7.25 inch differential.

87-96 Dakota = Chrysler 7.25"
97-99 Dakota = IFS version of the Dana 35
00+ Dakota = C205mm (aka 8") same as the 02+ 1500.

Hey Walt Felix, I was wondering when you would join this forum. I'm Dodgef25 from Dodge Talk. Anyone that doesn't know this guy he has the site with the 88 Dakota that he installed the 4in suspension kit. It's a great site. And just to let you know we have put together a great FAQ for general info and a FAQ2 for modifying tips.

Cheepest is going to be your local junkyard. But you never said what kind of parts!
