Default intake

so i went ahead and ordered the hughes plenum fix, along with new plenum gasket, intake gasket, intake TTY bolts and a 180 thermostat. now, what im wondering, is to get the intake manifold out, what all has to come off first? accessories? fuel rail? distributor? i just went and asked my mechanic and he said the distributor has to come out, but just from looking at it, it doesnt look like it does... =/ so i thought i would ask you guys too. and also, ive never done anything with an intake before, so should i apply RTV in some spots? if so, where? whats the torque rating on the intake bolts? i already know the EGR has to come out, which will be good, and also brings me to another question. now, my EGR has failed. im not sure if its just plugged or what, but i was wondering, if i were to spray TB cleaner in there (if it is just clogged), will that make it work again?

thanks

k well, i dug around the house, and found my haynes manual, i didnt know where it was, thats why i figured it would be easier for me to ask on here, but this doesnt look like its gunna be fun, but at least i will only have to do this once! BUT, this will have to be a project for monday, i need my truck this weekend, so.. and im also gunna do a write up on the plenum fix so that i may be able to make it easier for someone else to do it. its gunna be fun....
