Does anybody else have problems with their side view mirrors folding in on themselves at 75+ mph? I used to find this problem very amusing, but now-adays its just annoying. I need a way to fix the problem, but still allow the mirror to move if something bumps into it so it doesn't break. I was thinking of taking it off, and from the inside, putting a set screw in to hold a little more pressure against the shaft. Any thoughts?

 

Yea, mine eventually fold in on themselves. Not immediately, I find it somewhat annoying.

I've been wondering the exact same thing.

 

i had this same problem in my 87, take the mirror off the door, take the rubber on the inside of the mirror base and there are a couple screws on the inside, tighten them and it would solve your problem.

 

So there are already set screws in them that just need to be tightened? That makes the solution easy!!

 

mine does the same thing but it usually takes somewhere over 100 for mine to move, they are pretty stiff. did 115 a few days ago and i was looking at the side of the truck, lol.

Ya for me too, it takes 100mph or higher to move it. But it takes only one min. in ANY parking lot and someone will knock it out of place. I don't know why people can't walk around the mirror.

Just get some Duck tape. It will fix anything!

It seems everyday someone walks into my mirrors. I thought it was just me. Now if we can fix that problem too...

 

yes thats all it takes. mine would fold in at anything over 35. now ive slid into trees and hit mine off of branches never broke. the branch i hit yesterday hit the mirror then just slide right around it. mine also takes both hands to move them and pulling on them. i have them tight.
