I might possibly have a NV3500 4WD which has a bad 3rd and 4th synchro. How hard would it be to swap insides on these two? Or better yet, how hard of an undertaking is it to rebuild a trans?
Also, do all NV3500s bolt up the same? I know they used them in the S10 also.
I am also wondering what the size differences are between the nv3500 and 4500/5600 (What was the six speed in the Viper and Srt-10 Rams? I thought that was 5600)
I don't know about size differences... thats why at this stage I'm just simply looking for one. Swapping them will be a different story, but anything can be done clearance wise as long as the transmission bolts up to the engine, and the transfer case bolts up to the transmission.... thats all I care about.
The viper has a Tremec T-56. I have heard they will also bolt up to our engines, cause the Viper engine design is based off the LA block (but the viper motor is all aluminum).... but good luck finding a 4x4 version to bolt up a transfer case!

Good luck fitting a NV4500 in the trans tunnel.
2 inch body lift And I'll go higher if I need more clearance.

everything will fit with a torch and BFH!!!!! you should just put in a t56 and a divorce mount np205 t case. that would be awesome.
I'm gonna have to research that and see what has to be done to make it work!!! I never thought about it and honestly didn't know they made divorce mount t cases. Thanks Chris!!

As of right now the plan is to get a tail housing off of a Chevy NV3500 4WD and swap the tailhousing from my 2WD Dodge NV3500. I am probably going to start off by mounting the existing 231 transfer case, but wouldn't mind getting a 241.
