wont start

Default wont start

i was driving home from work thursday and my 90 3.9 just died and wont restart. i have a good battery new ignition switch (not the tumbler) with the door open and key on i hear my door buzzer thing but wont start no click no nothing. i even lost my radio it wont turn on either. and ideas? i checked for power thru the fusesable links and only found one that didnt have power and traced it back to he computer and no power there either but im not for sure if it sould have power. i also notice when it happened that my neg batt cable was very hot

Could be a relay. I don't know if it has an asd relay but I have had trouble with those in the past with other vehicles. Also check the sockets they plug into.

Check the wires on the battery make sure they are tight and clean. And check where the cable goes to the body/ engine/ starter/ fuse box.

It sounds like the battery cable to me also. If it was really hot, chances are it was starving for current flow. Check for corrosion or a bad connection.

If the negative battery cable is hot, there is resistance somewhere, probably were it connects to the frame. This would also explain no click, no radio, no nothing.

terms are clean but i have some power like my lights work and i can use a test light and the power to the back of alternator has power

i am not getting power to my igntion switch on the colum so i traced the power wire down and by passed the fuseable link (which was the one i was not getting power to in the forst place) but when i hook up the wire it starts to smoke, but here is the weird thing if i discounted the igntion switch it dont smoke..(tryed with new swicth and old switch) and clues????

You have a short to ground. A wire somwhere is cracked or piched or something.

ok there is a red wire a black wire a blue wire and a yellow wire on one of the plugs on the igntion switch. i hooked my test light to the positive side of battery and probe the black wire and it lights making it a ground and i probe the blue wire and it lights also making that a ground.. thats not right...right?

the wire on pass side leading down to the trans some how melted together. but didnt fix it..any other ideas???
