Default A535/ np2500

Just wanted to know first off are the a535 and the NP2500 the same? From what i am reading they are? Also as far as V6 aplications what are your guys thoughts on this transmission? Im getting Two bad ones for $20. One has bad cluster and 1st gear and thats its and the other is the same or similar?

Yes, they are the same transmission... from what I just read, back when the company was called New Process Gear, it was the A535 model, and when New Venture Gear took over, they named it the 2500. However, I know nothing about them as far as gear ratios and torque handleing go, but according to drivetrain.com they were used in Dodge pickup trucks from 1987 to 1992, so it looks like the pre-AX15 manual transmission. It sounds to me like it will work.

I was mainly curious cuz my service manual covers the NP2500, so for my rebuilding purposes thats what i wanted to know. Plus i personally wanted a np2500 rather than the jap ax-15 haha.
