Default R.i.p. V6

Its over. I just finished the head gasket repair, which took a long time. I did a good job too cleaning and preppring everything. No luck. Started it up and the steam kept pouring out of the muffler and there was a loud clicking from the side where the head was bad. I don't know for sure, but I am pretty sure it is shot. Well, shot to the point where the 318 sitting in my garage is going to be swapped in now. I must have a bad block, bent something or other, or bad piston ring. Or all of the above. In any event, it is onto the swap.

Sounds like a plan!
Why fix the V6 when you can throw in more power?

Well, the plan was to fix the V6 and keep it, use it as a daily commuter, then get a new frame and body to put the V8 in and do a solid axle swap to it with a pair of Dana 60s. But that is going to change a little now. It would have been sweet.

The steam out the exhaust could be from leftover coolant in CC and /or muffler. How bad is the noise?

I was hoping that, but I let it sit and idle for about 15 minutes and no improvement. I would have expected something to get a little better. I will say, the steam confuses me, I know my gaskets are all in place correctly. Everything was checked.

The noise was bad enough to prevent me from taking it around the block (on my own decisiion). I know something is wrong, whether it be a connecting rod or something. It is a consistent tick that is coming from the passenger side. Right where my head went out. I am sure it is a piston problem or vavle problem, but I am guessing piston. All of the push rods were put in the same spot I took them from.

Lol, it might already be sold to somone who asked for it if the truck didn't get back up on its feet. But if that doesn't go through, it will be up for sale. Along with a practically new set of Accel spark plug wires and a Summit distributor cap. Depending on how the new engine's TB ism potentially a TB too. Let's see, what else.

I will have an original computer for the V6 too.
