Depending on how you look at it, yes and no, at one point they had approximately a 10% share in the company, so they were never majority owners but a shareholder nonetheless.

It is interesting to read up on the histories of all the car and engine companies and how everything is related and who did business with who, etc. It has evolved a lot in a relatively short period of time.

well that makes me feel a little better about cummins. i was just going on what one of my buddies said, he had told me that if you look under the hood of a new ram diesel, it would say "Powered By Ford Cummins" or something to that effect on the rad support. i never personally looked into it for myself tho.. thank you guys for clearing that up for me.

...i still dont like diesels tho

Ya I'm not the biggest diesel fan. Every time I hear one It reminds me of a school bus. But they put out an enormous amount of torque and at low RPMs.(500-700lbs) And modern ones can put out some great hp numbers too.

Hmm what would be the disadvantage of a lower HP high torque Diesel motor? With the torque I would think it would have no problem getting up to nice speeds given the correct gearing... but does the lower HP just impact the acceleration?
