I just put some 17x9 Dakota RT rims on my 96 Dakota 2wd. What are my options for wide tires. So far I can't find anything wider than a 275/55/17 besides a slick. I also don't want to go any shorter than a 50 series. Keep in mind this is for the back.

 

2wd or 4wd?

 

You should be able to fit just about anything on the back. Just keep looking until you find the tire you want to run.

You won't be able to clear anything over a 255 on the front though, but even then a 245 will fit better.

im having trouble finding tires wider than a 275/50/17. they have some but their over 30" tall

 

How wide of a tire can you fit on a 9 inch wide rim?? 275 is almost 11 inches and with that low of profile I would think they are close to the limit. Just google searching real quick I found 285/40/17 or 295/40/17. I know its a lower profile than you want but that's the downside of bigger rims. Anything else is more of an offroad tire.
