Default Prepped NV4500HD for swap

Just a little comparison for information. The bottom still needs to be painted but I didn't want to lift it and risk scratching the new paint before it sets up completely. I am actually thinking about running a pass of bed liner acrossed the very bottom of it, make a black colored pad almost around the bottom edge.

Bellhousing to match.

3 coats of primer and 3 coats of Hemi Orange

By the way, still can't figure out how to copy and paste the images in directly. Do you do it in the message window or in the attachment window? It always says invalid file in the attachment window.

You paste them right into the message window.

What are you pasting into the window? I right click and can copy the image or copy the image address. When I pasted it into the message window all I got was the links. Maybe it is because I am on a mac? I dunno.

I copy the picture, not the address, and paste it right where you type your message.

The length is the same. Bolts patterns are identical. Weight is about 250 lb for the NV4500, vs. I want to say 135 or so for the NV3500. The height in the middle is larger, but it is hard to measure since it sits in there a little different. When I get back to the garage I will measure it for you. The NV3500 doesn't sit flat on the floor like the NV4500 does when it in the garage, so it is a little tricky to get a true measurement of height difference until they are mounted. I will be sticking up a little farther with the new tranny, but I just installed a 2" body lift so I can give you the clearances when I start to raise it up.

so the nv4500 is a simple swap with the nv3500?

The 4500 offers a great 1-3 gear that would be better for my boat towing and still allow me to keep those weak stock 3.55 gears that would be best without the boat on the highway.

Simple, depends on what you think is simple. I have yet to drop this in since i have my QC to work on now, but it is a great tranny. If you track down one for a Dodge gasoline engine you will have a direct bolt up to the 318 or 360. The biggest problem to overcome that I have found so far is fitting it in the existing trans tunnel. I installed a 2" body lift to give me some more room.

Also need to be careful not to shift into 5th gear wen you are below 1600 RPM. The tranny doesn't like it and after some time people reported losing 5th gear.
