Default Muddin Q!

So, not sure if its drivers error, or if its dodge error, but whenever I go into a " pond" haha, she seems to snuff out... the exhaust hangs kinda low... not sure if im letting off or what..could be a " oh my god " reaction...

anyone have any similar issues or thoughts?

Chad

By pond I assume water. If you get water on the distributor it will cause the motor to misfire and sputter. Generally speaking as long as your truck is running a short submersion in water(exhaust wise) shouldnt cause it to die. I would worry more about spark(retaining spark) and air intake than anything. If you frequent water a snorkel would be a good idea.

I agree! Concentrate on the air and dist. A snorkel may not be necessary. You can also just move the intake hose to a good area that is not going to be hit hard by water. That is what I did. I moved it to the battery side. It's away from the grill so it can breath without sucking in water.

Also keep in mind the diffs and transfer case have vent tubes. Water can get in and ruin it all. You can extend the hoses up farther so it can stay dry. Mud can get into the brake system and start scratching up the rotors and drums.

I ran my vent hoses up in between the cab and body almost to the lip of the bed. Yeah....its a lot of hose. But it ensures Im not getting crap in my fluids.

nope. not my issue gents. air filter is always dry, and immediately after it gets tugged out it will fire right up, hardly ever sputters...

as far as mud in the brakes and such, have not had an issue yet! the diffs.... already junk!

I would still move it even if the filter seems dry if you are going into ponds.
