I got a 2001 Quad Cab, so torn
Hey everyone,
Well, I found what I considered a deal of a lifetime. It was a 2001 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab with 4WD and a "ticking" engine. Needless to say I got a good deal I think. I towed it home with a dual axle U-Haul trailer and my V6.
Not too bad, stopping was a little nerve racking but that V6 has some kick when you need it.
Not planning on getting rid of the first gen anytime soon. In fact, once I get the 2001 up as my daily driver the first gen may become the monster rig. We will see.

$1800. I was happy with the deal. For me it came at the right time. Granted if I weren't doing the work myself I would never be able to afford to repair this truck, but hopefully I will save some money and get the 4.7 running again.
I have read a lot of good things about the 45RFE tranny too, although I wish I could throw my NV4500 into it.

It's cool! I don't know much about the 4.7 so I may learn something too. And if you needed the 2nd gen. has a service manual for a 2000 or 2001. I think the link is in there DIY. That will be your best friend when you start taring it down.
