Default tranny

i got my tran rebuilt got the truck home notice i needed a new u joint replaced it drove the truck around the block everything worked fine, pulled back into my drive way and parked it. later went out to go somewhere and truck will not come out of park. but with the key on and the truck in park the tail lights r on and the reverse lights r on also. any idea? well i got that fixed i took the leakage apart and hit it with a hammer and was finally able to get it to shift out of park, but my next question is the trans wont shift into overdrive and i have the push button overdrive is there a solienod for this?

Lol, I would say judging by his username, it is a 1990 dakota. But what transmission are you working with?

Where did you take it to be rebuilt and why can't you take it back to them and say fix it?

I agree I think the shop f-ed up. sounds like your shift linkage is screwed up. I would def talk to the shop that fixed it. Just don't come up all pissy right off the bat everyone makes mistakes. If they get stupid, you know to NEVER LET THEM TOUCH YOUR TRUCK AGAIN lol

Well I don't know much about automatic transmissions, but the FSM for a '95 Dakota that is available in the FAQs section has a complete teardown of the 46rh (A-518) that might help you.

I think if you can track down a factory service manual for your truck it will probably help you out. Or at least something pre-magnum.
