Exclamation leaf springs

i am wanting to lift my 89 dakota and my leaf springs are seated under my axle. i was wondering how much work would have to be done to get the springs to the top of the axle and is it an easier job.

thanks

The absolute easiest way to do that is to get a 4x4 dakota axle and swap them because they are already axle under spring.

Otherwise, you'll have to buy a pair of spring perches and 4x4 u-bolt plates and weld (or have someone weld) the perches on. That will require at least a 240 volt mig welder.

One thing you'll need to consider though, is that will bring the rear up about 4-5 inches from where it sits now, so you'll need to get the front up that high too. You can probably pull off 2 inches with coil spacers, but other than that I have no advice for lifting the front.

in all honesty, i was trying to do the exact thing your trying to do, its not worth it. you cant lift the front high enough to compensate for the axle under setup in the rear. you are better off using the 2 in suspension lift and then adding the 2 inch body lift. that is the most height you can acheive on 2WDs without it looking retarded... but this is all IMO too..
