replacing motor mounts?
how tough is it? ive never done it. also, is the only reason that they are rubber mounted for less vibration for the driver to feel? any race car ive been around has solid mounts. is there any other reason besides driver comfort to have them rubber mounted? if not ill just weld some steel plating in there and call it a day
thx
thx
I've never changed engine mounts, but I've spent enough time under my truck to give an opinion as to how I'd approach it. I would remove the inner fender wells (not just the rubber splash guard, but the entire fender well). Then, I would take out the bolts holding the engine mount onto the frame and jack the engine up off the frame. Then, unbolt the mounts, bolt on the new ones and lower back down into place. Like I said, I've never done it, but I think it would work.
As for the purpose of the rubber isolators, I think they are more so used to keep road shock away from the engine than keeping engine shock away from the frame. Race cars can get away with solid mounts because the track is smooth.

I believe you can do everything without messing with the fenders. I have plenty room underneath to do it all. And with the 6in body lift and 38's I know that has to have plenty of room. Ya I would say keep the rubber, too.
Lol, I forgot about the 6 inch body lift!!! Yeah, I agree with Crazy, you probably don't need to remove the inner fender wells. I always remove them when I need to access the lower engine cause I have an impact wrench and it takes about 30 seconds a side and gives you a lot of access.
Blue, you need a signature picture :P I'll make you one if you send me a picture.
