Ok so I have the oportunity to get a basically free transmission out of a 97 dakota with a 3.9. Its a 5 speed manual. What transmission is this? Ive searched and cant find anything, other than a 5 speed is available. AX15? NV3500?
Would it bolt to a 5.2?

Yes it will bolt up to the V8. But it is not going to be able to hold up to the V8 power.
