Default paint for rim

Hey everyone, I recently started the project of buffing down the spare rim on my truck as it was starting to rust very badly. I am about half way done grinding down the rim to bare metal and I wanted to know if anyone can recommend a good paint for rims.

Just called down to a "local" shop and they charge 45 bucks to media blast them and powder coat them back to silver. I dunno, 45...50 something with tax is just at the breaking point for how much I would be willing to pay. Especially when I found a site that sells exact OEM spare rims for 68 bucks but 15 shipping. Or at discount tire direct they have a pretty awesome looking rim for 75 with free shipping. What do you guys think?

$50 is not bad at all. But if you can't aford it just go to autozone or pepboys, and go to the spray paint secton. I believe it is duplicolor that has a rim paint. Or just go to walmart get the $1. Paint and spray it. That is what I have done on my trailer rims. They still got the $1 paint after years of use.

if you go the cheap route, just head over to napa or whatever and get duplicolor paint. ive found that its the best paint you can get. my buddy used it on his GMC 1500 to paint the whole truck, and the paint lasted until someone who didnt like his nice lowered truck caved the roof in and broke the window trying to steal the system in it...

thats the kind of paint i was gunna get when i get down to giving my rims a new coat of a different color paint..

why not look for a set of aftermarket wheels/tires for around 200-ish since you're spending 50$ a wheel anyway.

look at the thread i made about wheels i found locally on craigslist, 17x10 -25mm offset and 4.5" back space, for 100$ or best offer

I already bought a full set of rims from a 2000 durango. So I am not really in the market for another. I think I will continue to grind away on this rim and see if I can even do a decent enough job of cleaning it up. And just take it from there.
