Default Things to do while tranny/axle out

Oil pan gasket is definitely one. Anything else I should be working on in the interum of trying to find a 5 speed? I would rather not pull this motor, although there aint much left attached at this point.

I have the spare motor from my other truck if I decide I want to do anything fancy.....but Im probably gonna sell it. Why waste a bunch of money to upgrade this one when I could just buy a 360 anyway? Honestly Ill probably regear before I go nuts on the motor. Im planning on running 35's or 37s.....depending on how I feel when I get my sas done.

Thoughts? This is a budget build, but that doesnt mean I want to neglect maintenance, especially while its as easy as its ever gonna get.

Just remember it's all the small things. So clean up the frame. Paint to prevent rust. Is your oil pan gasket leaking?

No its not. But it seems like it would be worth it to change it while I have all this crap out rather than to have to pull it again to do a 30 dollar gasket.

I was thinking about spraying some sort of undercoating on it while Im messing around. Suppose Ill stop being lazy and do it. My frame already has a fair amount of rust, so Im half afraid Ill grind into something I dont wanna find.

Since you have your title of the thread being Things to do while tranny/axle out id say add either a limited slip system or locker system in your axle

Lol....how bout swap it out with a dana 44?

I guess I should clarify. Things to do to the motor while the transmission and axle are out. Anything that is easier to axcess without them in there.
