Default 3.9 hesitating/stalling at very low throttle

Yesterday night the truck started acting funny. I was going through a drive-thru and i juuuuust feathered the throttle and i heard the truck hesitate. I gave it a bit more fuel and it coughed then jerked forward. Then tonight, it just stalled. It happens when its not in gear too. Its only at very very low throttle. If I put it to the floor from a stop it doesnt hesitate at all or anything. I'm thinking IAC, but theres no check engine light one.

If it matters, I started noticing it after lighting the tires up on dirt for a few seconds. The transmission seems fine, its shifting fine and everything. Its happening in Park and neutral, so i dont think its transmission related.

Thanks for any help.

A bad senor doesn't always set off a check engine code. I don't think there is even a code for the IAC. It may be the IAC. But hesitating is more something like an ignition problem check all wires and hoses.

That was another thought, because the truck idles just fine. Its just when I give it a bit of throttle. Im going to pull the dist cap and check everything tomorrow, hopefully.

On another note (didnt want to bother making a new thread) Theres a loud squealing sound coming from the front of the truck. after checking the usual things (alternator, idler pully) I grabbe the fan. Sure enough, its pretty loose. I can see the pully moving quite a bit. Now, the question is, is it in the water pump? Or is there a separate assembly?

The fan and clutch is attached to the water pump. So most likely you will need to replace the water pump. You can check the FAQ in this section for the R&R on it.

New development in the stalling. I pulled the EGR (Keeps throwing that code) and ordered a new one. Wont be in until next week. So i cleaned it asbestos I could, then threw it back on. When I got out on the road, the truck felt much more powerful. What are the symptoms of a bad EGR?

Well I went out today. Just for fun I cycled the ignition to see what if any codes were stored. Apparently, the throttle position sensor is 'out of range'. Bad sensor? Im hoping. Would a bad TPS cause these problems?

Ya possibly the the EGR or the TPS. Just replace if necessary.
