Need answer quick!!!!
Hey, as you guys might know.. I said I was doing a V8 swap. I just got a call from the guy saying the linkage is different and if I keep my transmission V6, that when I put my motor in ( V8 ) the kick down cable will not be able to hook up. Is this possible?.. well anyways I imagine hes right.. But if I switch the transmission to put the V8 one in as well.. will my transfer case hook right up to the tranny? please answer quick
It is externally the same. So I see no problem with your TV cable and your transfer case hooking up perfectly. Just of coarse make sure the new transmission is a 4wd. If you truly wanted to double check. Look at the parts manuals.
ya.. he found out he can make it work.. but there is tonnes of other problems.. only one gas line in my truck , v8 motor has two.. and if its not the same gear ratio for the transmission.. il have to switch over rear end and front end wont i?
ok, this is a big question
Im going to have to transfer the transmission from the V8 over to the V6 truck.
of course the transmission will bolt up.. but which transfer case do I need, will my V6 one bolt up to it? If not.. is there gearing in the transfer case that would mess up my ratio?
ex, does the gear ratio go from the rear axle, and the front axle, or does the transfer case have anything to do with the ratio.. what im asking will the transfer case bolt up no matter what the gear ratio is?

For the fuel lines your going to need to get the V8 tank or tank sending unit. I think it was 96 or 97-up they don't have a fuel return line.
All Dakota transfer cases in our years are the same. So you can use your V6 or use the V8 transfer case case. No it will not mess with your differential ratios. The rule is the Rear and Front axle ratios have to be the same.
