Hey guys does anyone here have any info on replacing the ignition lock cylinder? I cant seem to find my service manual so until i can find it or get a new one any info i can get would be great i need to try and swap mine out soon.
You are gonna need security torx bits, I dont remember the size though... What else do you wanna know? Autozone and or Napa, etc all carry em, I wanna say it was like close to 70 bucks. They are quick and easy to change out.

IIRC it was just the plastic shell around the outside of the steering column, 3-4 security torx screws that hold the switch and the cylinder together and then you have it, alittle jiggling, and viola! I cant recall exactly, but if you have a specific question it may rattle my brains
Thats seems easy, i dont have my truck here but im pretty sure on my 88 the plastic around the column s one piece i remember looking at it when i had to look at my ignition switch which you access by removing the plastic panel under the column and lowering the column. I will take a look tomorrow when i go to work on it hopefully its as easy as you describe
this should be really easy, I think its a matter of a screw and a pin and then it just comes right out. They have replacements at Autozone for either 19.99 or 25.00 depending on the finish (black or chrome).... Now the door locks - that's a different story. Hated doing those! But I managed to get it done by only removing the door panels and just went straight to the locks. They were only 11.99 at Autozone btw.
Maybe the price I list was with matching kepys or something, I dunno its been about 4-5 yrs now... You are correct on the torx bit, its just a torx with a hole in the center Good LUCK! and let us know how ya make out.
LO 169 that sounds like what i have to do. Also i have another lock cylinder off my donner truck with set of keys so i wont need to change the locks i will just have a key for the doors and one for the ignition. Ill let you guys know if i can get er done tonight.
