Not sure what motor and tranny you have, but since Im pretty sure they didnt offer v8s until 91 at least Ill assume a 6 cyl.

Which means that no, your tranny wont handle the extra power. Youll be looking for either an nv3500 or an nv4500 if you want to keep a 5 speed. 318 runs a 3500, and is happy with it. Im installing an nv4500 as we speak.

From what Ive heard the early engine bays are smaller front to back, so it may be a tight squeeze requiring an electric pusher fan instead of belt driven. You may want to upgrade to v8 tortion bars if you dont feel yours will handle the extra weight.

if I am not mistaken 360 is a big block and not a small block like the 318 is. But yeah you would want to change it. I know a 318 in place of 3.9 in 91 or later the tranny will handle a stock 318 but anything beyond that your looking at frying your tranny after a while

Wow! So you're typing with one hand, and turning bolts with the other? Thats impressive! :P

+1.

Like skyshark said, the NP2500 or AX-15, whichever one they were putting in these trucks back then won't stand up to the torque of the 318 or 360, and also like skyshark said, the engine bay is short and you will have to put an electric radiator fan in front of the radiator.

Nope, the 360 is a 318 block with a bigger bore and longer stroke. There is also a window of only about 40-45 ft*lbs of torque between the 318 and 360, so whatever transmission can't handle the 360 probably can't handle the 318 either.

You might be thinking of the 383 big block.

I believe the motor mounts are different.

I know the magnums have the same motor mounts between the v6 and v8, I can't say for sure if the pre-mags do as well.

Probably be easiest to just go look at it and see how its mounted vs yours. Youre gonna need the harness, or to wire the additional injectors into yours.
