hey everyone I have a 93 Dakota with a 318. I'm 18 an just got the truck. love it. are there parts I should get right away that would improve my performance? I don't have much money but would like to work on it as much as possible.

I was also wondering how lifting the truck would work.

thanks

Welcome to DodgeForum!

For answers and links for lifting and performance, read through faq2 (near the top of the 1st gen dakota subforum). Is this truck a 2wd or 4x4? Cause that makes a big difference on how to lift it.

The quick list for performance is: Get a mopar performance computer (avoid the jet chips, they are junk), get a set of headers and performance muffler, bigger throttle body, cut out the runners on your intake manifold or get a mopar m1 intake (avoid throttle body spacers, they don't do anything). Then there are the more expensive stuff like a cam, stroker kit, 1.7 roller rockers, high flow heads, etc.

For the keyless entry system, there's not much you can do with manual locks that I know of. You could try finding a dakota in a junkyard with power locks and swapping them out, then install a keyless entry system.

For 2wd, coil spacers in the front, longer shackles in the rear. Don't expect to get much more than 2 inches in the front though. You can also do a body lift, but on the 2wd, it requires lengthening the steering shaft.

What kind of parts are you looking for?

I could cut a piece out of my steering shaft if your interested in doing the body lift. I already cut it in half anyway.

I think youd be better off to go to a junkyard and see if you can find matching doors that are electric. Ive ripped mine apart a few times now, and swapping out the assemblies would suck.

As for power locks, though - it's not difficult to add JUST the motors, and basic wiring, to setup a keyless entry - but it would NOT have lock switchesd, etc - it would essentially still be manual locks, except able to lock/unlock from a distance.

I am looking to do the same to my 91 - swap out the wiring, mortors, etc., to fully power my doors, but in the mean time, or if you don't care about the other power accessories, you can just wire a keyless entry into your truck using generic 2-wire door lock actuators.

how much would all that cost to do the lift? would I have to get bigger tires
I might go to a place to see if they can do the keyless entry for me.

I was looking for maybe aftermarket speakers or bigger exhaust tips cuz mine are small for some reason lol..
