is here a diference in the 2wd to 4wd trans crossmember? I went to the parts year and found a v6 2wd and pulled everthing from pedels to master cyclinder, to flywheel to crossmember and the trans was garbage already so I took it back but I kept the flywheel clutch and plate with the bellhousing. None of it will work 4 a np435 though but good to have for a car 4 speed trans though. So was my v6 trans not a 3500?

well i have an update on putting that np435 in my 91 dakota. first off, every conection to the truck is diforent! trans crossmember has to be notched 2 1/2" and mount moved 2" back and the 6"X6" hole that gose in the floor gose directly under the dash. Deep under the dash to the pinch weld in the tunnle. Need to modifie the shifter to clear everything under the dash, shorten the bellcrank and modifie it to clear the steering colom and bolt it to the frame, shorten the rod from the pedel to the bellcrank and another hole in firewall. and that converts it to a linkage clutch. I dont know if anybody has ever tried it at all? I cant find anything on google or yahoo or anywhere about useing a np 435 in a dakota. can anybody find any info on it?

No, it was either a np2500 or ax-15. I can't remember which.

I just have one question. After everything you just listed there, you still want to do it?!?! That sounds like a lot more work than its worth. There are a couple of very strong 5 speed manual transmissions that are a direct fit on these trucks.

if i could find a np3500 or 4500 cheap id do it but im on like a no money budget and bearly have the cash for rtv to seal up my motor. The trans is already it. crossmember is way bent up from somebody wheeling the rig befor so I cut it all up to fit the 435 and my floor is looking more like a window. I have a welder that im using alot and im not to bad with it. custom fab is sorta my thing. I want to do it even more after I seen nobody has done it. find anybody that has done it yet?

I hear ya. The nv3500s are hard to find but can be found reasonably cheap. The nv4500s are usually more expensive.

I can't argue with that. I felt the same way when I put the np242 transfer case in my truck.

AND, it also sets me up for wicked t-case setups for the front end to be converted to a solid live axle on fore link. one step at a time though.
