Question about truck I just bought
Its a 96 Dodge Dakota V8 4wd. It is going to be my work truck and winter beater. I just have one problem with it. It starts up fine when it has been sitting for about an hour or so after running but when I drive it and say run in somewhere for about 15 mins and come back out, it will start then die out. Then I go to start it again and it wont fire up at all unless I give it gas and as I let off the gas it dies so I have to give it gas and try to get it unto gear and drive it, so if you come to a stop it dies within 30 secs of driving but after that it runs fine. Just curious as to what that is caused from. Any help would be greatly helpful. Thanks ahead of time.
These trucks don't have a MAF (mass airflow) sensor, they have MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor. This is located at the front of the throttle body. Just an FYI, the 3rd sensor on the throttle body is the throttle position sensor (TPS). If you have a multimeter, you can check the MAP and TPS to see that they are in good working order. We have the '96 FSM available for download in faq2 (its a rapidshare link) that will have the procedure for checking those sensors.
haha sorry I havent had a lot of time to look at the truck yet. I didnt really want to sound like a complete tard there. I have worked on cars quite a bit. Im just really not familiar with dodge and trucks. I have worked on my 06 evo and 00 audi s4 such as replacing clutches, exhasts, intakes, boost controllers, fuel pumps etc.

I wasn't trying to belittle you there, just pointing out that you might not want to look for a MAF sensor, cause you'll be looking for a long time :P You're not the first person who has referred to it as a maf sensor. Dodge just does things a little different. You'll catch on quick enough.
That audi sounds sweet! Got any videos of it?
