You would have to take the truck to them. You may be able to rent a code reader from them and take it home.

Any luck on fixing your truck? I am having nearly identical problems with my 92 Dakota and have replaced the same parts to include the PCM. See my threat "92 Dakota will not idle when cold".
If you find a solution to your problem, please post the fix.

Ok ...update.. since my last post I have replaced the PCM...was able to use the non high altitude PCM...saved over 120$ ....yay! However it didn't fix the truck lol. It is connecting to diagnostic tools and everything is reading fine .No codes... and voltages appear appropriate for the sensors. I also installed a new Cat / muffler / pipe . Still having the problem. I have been reading about the plenum gasket.....it seems that a symptom of a bad plenum is excessive oil consumption.( can anyone confrim this and or give me a rundown on bad plenum syptoms ?) My truck does not seem to be using excessive amounts oil . My next course of action is to....re index the distributor ...change every vacuum line ...and continue checking for bad wiring . If these things don't work ...i seriously don't know . I will continue to update as I continue this process of elimination lol. This has been a real bitch . Thanks for all your help guys ..I appreciate it !

The plenum is easy to diagnose. Take off the air cleaner, hold open the butterflies, and look down in there for any puddles of oil. It could mean a bad plenum or a bad pcv valve, but either way the engine will consume oil and knock/ping and just generally run bad.

Hrmmm...Id say based on that I would have to rule out the plenum. It's gonna end up bein wiring and prolly take me another year to figure it out .sigh

Seriously, if you are that convinced it is a wiring issue, my advise it so change out the harnesses with new ones. They are VERY easy to change out... take you less than an hour.

Thanks 95_318SLT. I am not entirely convinced on the wiring . I just am running out of ideas and am grasping for straws it seems . I read a thread at another forum about the intermediate gear and bushing for the distributor . Anyone have any knowledge of these parts and the symptoms they create if bad? Thanks everyone .

I don't see where you have changed the o2 sensor yet. A bad o2 sensor can really hose up fuel delivery around the time it warms up and goes into closed loop function! Just disconnecting it should dramatically change your condition, as the computer will run in open loop mode with standard program values substituted for actual o2 sensor input. Patch the exhaust leak near the sensor also.....

Hello everyone ...been gone for a couple of weeks ....( got married ) ...I put my truck in a shop and they are telling me it's the oil pump drive gear and bushing ...also they say my plenum is suspect . When I took it to them I told them all that I did ...but didn't tell them that I suspected the gear and plenum ...they advertise as chrysler specialists ..so I wanted to see if they came to the same conclusion . Apparently they have . ( although I did tons of the trouble shooting for them ) I orderd the parts last week ...should be here tomorow ... I will update after the parts are on and let everyone know if this fixes it . In repsonse to ramdiezel....I haven't changed to 02 ...but it's gettin changed along with these last few parts for good measure . Thanks everyone!

Update : So after my truck sitting at a mechanics for 6 weeks we FINALLY fixed my truck . I replaced the oil pump drive gear and bushing / plenum gasket and it did not fix my truck . You can imagine my frustration after all the parts and ivestigating I did . The problem ended up being ....the new crank sensor I put in . Apparently it was defective . It was hard to find and it took many hours of troubleshooting to figure it out . My advice to people that put decide to put sensors in ....use quality parts. Don't skimp on electronic parts. Thankfully it was under warranty and didn't cost me anymore money . But...I have an identical part ...so how ong it will last I don't know lol. Probably what I get for buying the cheapest parts I could find . Thanks to all that tried to help. And good luck to anyone that finds this thread with similar problems ...I hope it helps .
