I ripped the carpetting out of the truck and found a nice big rust patch under the drivers side and a drain plug that had fallen out who knows how long ago. So I got out the angle grinder and took off the worst of it, prepped it, and painted it with Por 15.

Before...

After...

Seats never got put in. They were supposed to be my side project while I figured my biger problem out. Firday night when reassmbling I found this messed up connecting rod in my second gen engine. When it rains it pours.

Dang, man sorry to hear that.... Hope that is an easy repair for you. On a plus side, you did a good job with the rust, are you going to put in new carpet?

Today I'm working on finishing up the body work and getting ready to paint my tailgate, so far it's all done there's just one spot that I'm having trouble with. right now I have pinholes in the primer where the spot is and I reeeeeally don't want do sand it back down again

I also painted my tailgate handle with a spray can. Did 2 coats and it's looking a little tacky I'm going to take another look I may need to sand that out and redo that aswell.

Today we finally replaced the oil in the truck, and the oil filter, though i noticed something that looked like i wouldnt be thrilled about in the back, either while i drove it on the ramps or while we were doing the oil change the back strap closest to the axle on the gas tank broke in a spot that was rusted up, so now i got to worry about the gas tank falling off or shifting around until we find out what should be done

Get a cargo ratcheting strap and srap it up for now.

Today I had to repair some wires. I still had my amp wires even though the amp has been out for a while. The main power wire started shorting out. Tons of smoke. Now the truck stinks.

I know this is an old thread but, I actually did something with my truck this weekend.

While at the local Harry's u-pull it searching for parts for my Escort, I found a near complete 94 Dak 3.9L 4x4. What a freakin' gold mine I thought.

The first thing I grabbed was the factory stereo with the cassette deck so I can use my mp3 player without spending $100's on a new stereo. Bonus, it was fully functional.

Next I grabbed the headlights(practically new)

Now for the windshield... was a bit cold and with the sun heating it up just enough, I cracked it. Bummer..

Ok, now lets look under the truck...ahhh yes those friggin leaky trans cooler lines....check.

This truck has a nice grey interior. I may have to go back this weekend and get it. I will have to bring my steering wheel puller cause my wheel is cracked.

Total for the day including my Escort Power rack-and-pinion steering......$100.90.

Got my Wiper arms and cowl grill off, prepping and soon to be painted.

The Wiper arms are being painted with universal rustoleum satin black.

Drained the old transmission fluid and changed the filter too. Added ATF+4. Also drained and filled the gear oil on both axles with synthetic. First time doing this myself instead of taking it to an oil change place thanks to all the good info on this board.

Kudos to the guy (can't remember who it was) that suggested using a turkey baster to get that last bit of fluid from the axles. +1
