First off, welcome to DodgeForum!

So have you actually checked the fuel pressure at the rails when this happens? There is a good chance the pump is starting to die and loosing pressure like you mentioned!

Could be your gauge is stuck and 1/4 is empty. About the only way to know is to pull it and see if something is obviously amiss or replace it.

I have this problem, when my gauge reads 1/8th tank its actually on E, and I learned this the hard way...it ran like crap for a couple miles when I left work, stopped at wal mart, came out truck started right up, made it bout another 1/4 mile and it died...out of gas.

yeah it might be the pump i have had similar problem since i got truck runs out at half tank will spit and spudder. easiest way to tell is run till it does that then fill up see how many gallons and that should tell you.(obviously youll need to know what size tank you have if you dont email dodge for your build sheet or visit your local dealer.)

Even after I replaced my fuel pump I never trust my gauge. I use my trip-o-meter to determine when I need gas. Everytime I fill the tank I reset to "0". I'm good for 242 miles on a tank (22 Gal US) normal driving and about 191 miles in 4WD. When I reach these miles I know I have about 3 gals left in the tank and that can usually get me to a gas station. I don't think I've ever own a vehicle that the gauge was accurate.

Hmm, my gauge is dead on. The light never fails to come on when there is exactly 4 gallons left. If I fill it up right when the light comes on, it takes 18 gallons. Also, you must be getting terrible gas milage to only get 242 miles on a tank! I drive the hell out of my truck (spend a lot of time at WOT), and can get between 275 and 300 miles out of a tank.
