Finished the cowel guard, and replaced the re-painted wiper arms & new wiper blades. The paint is a little dirty and hasn't been cut & polished yet.

thanx guys... I want to do the hood bady but I keep jumping around and I need to finish the tailgate and get on some of the body work.

I made a mistake on the tailgate by not priming the metal. And the paint decided it wanted to peel in spots so i did a little spot sanding and priming. Hopefully can get the primer covered in as little as 2 coats otherwise it's gonna be like 13-14 coats total lol... It was my test panel and I know how to work with the paint alot better so the rest should be faster once I get to laying it down. There will be alot more pics comin'!

So, just a little update. The rain stopped, so the past 3 days I have made alot of progress with the body work. I have completed all of the body work on the driver side bed panel and it looks great. I'm about 80% done on the passenger side. There was quite a few more dents than on the driver side. I still need to get the rear bumper off so I can finish up the back aswell.

QUESTION:

The bed is out of alignment and I need to move it back to get to the space between the cab to prep it and paint it. What needs to be removed for me to slide the bed against the rear tires? I'm hoping to get this done ASAP so I can hurry up and get rollin' lol

As a side note I came across an awesome paint that I am thinking of using for the stripes. And maybe even the grill and headlight bezels if I can afford it! http://www.duplicolor.com/products/mirage.html

On the right hand side click "image gallery" to see a few product images.

There's very little real-world info on this paint. It's about $21.

To get the bed slid back, unbolt the 8 bed bolts. Unclip the taillight harnesses and make sure the wires are not clipped to the bed anywhere else (leave them hanging off the frame). Unbolt the gas neck. Take off the rear bumper. Get one or two people to help you lift it up and slide it back.

When I repainted my truck I took the bed all the way off. Of course that was more because the truck was too long to fit in the garage with the doors closed and me actually have enough room to get all the way around it, so I painted the truck in 2 sections.

(No, I did not paint the bed with the taillights still in it)

And here is an upclose of my stripe from right after I painted it (I forgot I had this on my computer):

Thanks, I hope I'll have enough room just sliding it back to the tires. I'm not OVERLY concerned because that is an area which wont really be seen. Would it be a bad Idea to spray-can it or should I just roll and sand?

Actually, come to think of it, I only painted my truck as far around as the stripes were! Since I wasn't changing the color of the truck and like you said, its not easily seen, I left most of whats between the bed and cab the original paint.

Like I said, I painted as far as the stripes in this picture: (forgive the bike in the foreground... I painted that for a buddy of mine)

BTW, if any of you get the chance to paint a street bike... pass up on it!

VERY SWEET BIKE! Is it difficult to paint bike parts? with an HVP gun I would have thought it wouldn't be so bad and inexpensive.

...That would be great, but my stock paint is brown... So I don't think I could pull it off quite the same. Come to think of it!!!! I might just throw on a coat or 2 of bedliner, since the prep is one-step and zero sanding in-between. The rustoleum coating is around $49 a gallon. I'll try getting by on one gallon for the bed but I may need to buy 2. I suppose I could grab a couple of the spray cans just for this purpose.
