Well, I changed my mind about that. The reason that won't work is cause the differential will just send the torque to the other axle instead of to the driveshaft and transfercase.

I'm not sure off the top of my head how to hold those still. I always take them off with my impact so I don't have to worry about the shaft spinning.

I was just thinking I wished I had a impact. I might able to borrow my shops impact tomorrow and use my 6 inch extension. Then I probably can remove that axle, lift the top A-arm out of the way and hammer out the lower ball joint. Then press the new one in. That should work right? haha

The easiest way to hold the axle to keep it from moving is to press on the brakes while unbolting the axle. Or put the tire back on and lower it on the ground. Since from the first pic your passed that point.

I would say to put a screw driver in the pin hole to try to hold it still or put the nut back on the axle and use that to hold it.

But ya impact is the easiest way!

those bolts on the flange really arent that hard, your right an impact would be best, but you should be able to do it with a socket, breaker, and hammer to hit on the bar.

Ya I tried putting a pointed screw driver through the cotter pin hole but the wrench over powered that. Didn't bend, just couldn't hold it. As for the brakes, that wouldn't work now like you said. The whole time I was thinking about the impact, gonna borrow one from work tomorrow. Thanks for all your guys' input!! Im sure there will be more question to come.

If you have to, spend 5 min. putting back on parts. Just finger tight a few bolts and get that brake just to hold it down.

Brought home the shops impact today and got those flange bolts off! Then I realized that the stupid lower BJ still wasn't coming out of the knuckle because it didnt have enough travel to pop out. Even if it did, the new one would be a bitch to get the steering knuckle back onto. So, I shoved my pickle fork in the window slot at the bottom of the knuckle and smacked the top of the knuckle a few times and it popped off!

I was all ready to use the BJ press I made when I realized I forgot to drill the hole bigger for the BJ bolt to fit through. So tomorrow I am drilling that out at work and everything hopefully will go back together when I get home!

Well I finally got it done tonight. All finally fairly well. A good friend of mine passed away last weekend where I live so I had to put things on hold. No more loud squeeks when I hit a bump. The CV boot tore from the clamp so that will eventually will have to be replaced. Not sure how much the boots cost?

Thanks for all the help! Much appreciated!!
Oxy.
