any write up to pull tranny
out of my 1988 dodge.2.2 speed.i was wondering if anyone has any write up's or any idea where to get some online.i have to pull trans and replace throw out bearing the fell apart i guess
There are several writeups I've typed up for my '95 5.2 4x4. A little bit different but the same concept. If you do a search they will be there.
But the short version is pull out the driveshaft, starter, slave cylinder, dust shield, any existing engine to bellhousing brackets, and anything in the way of removing the bellhousing bolts (for example the oil filter has to come off the 5.2 to get to a bolt). Unplug all wiring harnesses attached to the tranmission and get the wires out of the way. I don't know if any exhaust pipe is in the way on the 4 banger, but if so it needs to come out. Then. unbolt the bellhousing and support the transmission with a jack while you slide it straight back off the engine. Once off, the throwout bearing is right there in the front of the bellhousing.
