All I care about with that 2wd are quarter miles times! I know its never going to see anywhere close to even 10 mpg, but I have a my 4x4 that can get 15-16 city/highway and 18+ highway. Not great, but good enough.

I think I'd die of a heart attack if I ever saw one of these trucks get 30 mpg! :P

not talking about price here. while your tracking down the bad wire on the efi i'll be having a beer and watching the football game. my money's with the dominator. slight mixture adjustment now and then and your set.
by the way when it won't start at the track, maybe slt will be kind enough to stop and ask if you need a hand.
my point is that i got stuck in the deep woods for 7 hours because of a loose connection on a brand new 90 comanchee. i had an old suz lj80 before that and it always brought me back, it was a piece of junk but i didn't have to worry about electronics.

when done properly, efi is extremely reliable(no problems with any of the stuff ive done to date). you can stick with the antique tech if you want, but i know how to properly wire something to handle racing conditions. not to mention efi will idle better, be better tuned to different conditions, and make more efficient power. but yeah carbs are cheap and easy.....

sorry if i sound a bit angry blue but i spent a lot of money, traveled a long way on a nice day to do some fishing. and it was ruined by a loose connection. i know the systems are pretty dependable but one minor thing goes wrong and your waiting for search and rescue.
i don't put my trucks on the track, that's not what i want a 340 for. i want it to blow through the old roads (mud, sand and steep gravel pits to get to the best lakes) i owned a 4x4 because i needed it. i don't want to set a track record i just want to get where i'm going and back again.
if i wanted to set a speed record i don't think i would put a 727 three auto in it.
