rip all the crap out. computer, wires. etc. put a 340 wedge in with a holly 650 double pumper. (cfm stands for cubic feet per Minuit). bolt up a tourqueflite 727 three speed auto. put 3.90 (87-91) gears in. (3.91 in the 92-96). you are going to blow most guys on and off road. by the way it will all bolt up.

i am so tired of all these "electrical problems". keep it simple. put a carb on it (i'll help you set it up) and away you go. i don't have the money for this but i would love to help someone if they want to do it.l

I've got a very similar plan for my 2wd sitting in the garage as a bare frame (see the little pic next to my user name).

My plan is to gut the interior, build an aluminum dash with all custom gauges, and absolutely no hvac system. I'm putting in a 14 point rollcage with sport seats and 5 point harnesses. I'm building a 408 cu in stroker with high flow heads, big a$$ cam, forged crank and rods, 1.7 HS RR, etc (you get the point). Behind that will be a t56 6 speed with a solid hub clutch disc, and behind that will be a chrysler 9.25" rear axle with 4:10 gears, LSD (until it wears out, then getting a powertrax no-slip), and disc brakes.

For the fuel system, its getting a 1050 CFM Dominator Carb, 22 gallon fuel cell with external pump (somewhere around 10-12 psi). All steel braided lines. The fuel cell is going behind the rear axle where the spare tire normally sits.

All the electrical will be custom wired by me. I have already hacked up all the harness for extra wire in my 4x4, so there's no going back there :P I plan on using an optima battery in a steel battery box in the extended part of the cab. I'll bolt a custom fuse box and relay box onto the back wall of the inside of the cab and run all the wires from there. Then I'll cover it all up with a flat plate so it doesn't look stupid.

And this will all get a better start once I finish my coming up with rediculous stuff to do to my 4x4 :P

1050 dominator - nasty. thats a case of go big or stay at home.
it really is a dream of mine to do this and maybe someday it will happen.

Well, hopefully if all goes well, it's gonna be a nasty engine!!!

And that is my exact philosophy! Go big or go home. Or another rendition of that: If you're gonna take the time to do it, take the extra time to do it right!

Lol, have fun paying for that!! The wideband o2 systems you'll need for each bank will cost about what a carb costs, then expect to spend thousands on a stand alone system! And then there are the hours of dyno time.

I need 3 main parts to run a carb... a mopar m1 carbbed manifold for the magnum v8s (was planning on buying an m1 anyway even if I had picked EFI), a carb, and a low pressure fuel pump. I'm also going to run o2s on each bank so I can cheat to tune the thing.

not even close. Megasquirt efi. a lap top, and a few sensors from Innovate. it will be under a grand easy. i have the lap top and I could use the data logging system from my bike if i was in a pinch for cash. I can record 6 channels right now. Ive been doing AFR, TPS, RPM, and rear wheel speed(i tune my own fuel maps for track conditions, no dyno). Im setting it up to log oil pressure next season because of the stroker crank im putting in, and ill be logging EGT from one cylinder as i play with some bigger jets in the foggers

Hmm, I stand corrected. I've never heard of megasquirt... then again, I haven't done a ton of research on stand alone systems. I saw the price tags on a few of them and decided a carb would be better.

check it out. http://www.msefi.com/index.php you wont need your factory wiring harness, and you will be able to use pretty much all of your oem sensors. run 2 wideband o2 sensors, and if you go very crazy, 8 thermocouples. I dont plan on logging egt on the truck unless i go with forced induction or nitrous. no real need

i agree with blue, and i agree with you slt

carbd will be cheaper, but EFI will get you 10's at the track and 30 mpg on the way home, with the click of a button
