Default add it to my list of woes...

hey guys, if you remember my question about idle relearn, well its not that

basically i have a hard *** time getting the truck to go over the 2k RPM mark. it just wont rev over that until atleast 75% throttle. if i hit 2k, it drops to like 1500 and shoots back up...

from my experiences that tells me its in limp mode, generally caused by a MAP sensor? can anyone confirm?

What year is your truck again? I don't think OBDI had limp mode, and '96 was the only year of OBDII for our gen.

Gotcha. Have you ran the codes yet? Have you downloaded the '96 FSM from faq2... I'm sure it has troubleshooting.

Well I just looked in the FSM, and according to it, the computer won't enter limp mode without the MIL being on.

ah just never heard it called that lol...

anyway, i remember with my old nissan if you couldnt rev over 2500 rpm it was the MAFS sensor, and i fixed a vacuum leak and it kinda fixed it the other day, so im leaning toward either another vac leak or the only sensor that really relies on vac, the MAP

Its worth a try, but like I said, the computer won't go into a limp mode without the CEL being on, so it must have a code stored that will tell you.
