Default Fuel Gauge Not Working

The fuel gauge in my 95 Dakota is not working. Is there a fuse or relay that I need to check before I tear apart the cluster? Also, can you recommend a good website to get affordable oem replacement parts.

Welcome to DodgeForum!

Copied from FAQ:

Fuel gauge doesn't work- A common problem in these trucks are gas gauges that put out erroneous readings. (This problem is common to not just the Dakota, but also the Rams, and many other Dodge vehicles) Some people have had luck with running fuel system cleaner (such as "Chevron Techron"), that might at least help the issue. While doing other fuel tank maintenance, erock92kota discovered that the tabs the unit rode up and down on were messed up, he simply snapped them back in place, and his gauge works again.
Unfortunately, at some point, they integrated the fuel sending unit with the fuel pump, so not all years have a separately serviceable sending unit.
Also, read through faq and faq2 for lots more info and links to the parts sites you need!

does the low fuel light come on? 99% it is the sending unit, mine is also inop. Pain to replace have to drop the tank. Would not waste time in the dash.

Howdy folks, Im new here and you might as well add me to the non working gas guage club. Mine works with a full tank, but once I get to a half tank. It quits working all together. Anyone know why?
