Default along went a spider...

closely followed by another one. looks like my t case problem is fixed anyway.... when i was trying to pull that suv out of the ditch i heard a few snaps and bangs, and thought it was the t case as he told me the front drive shaft wasnt spinning when my rear wheels were. i guess he couldnt see. tonight i got all 4 wheels off of the ground and put it in 4x4. drive shaft spins, so i took off the front diff cover and found this.

Im really tempted to just weld them solid like the rear since its winter(and i can do it for free). do a sas in the spring maybe when the roads are clear and it causes problems turning or replace them then... all 4 spiders are bad as the 2 that didnt break are missing teeth. anyone ever price these?

Oh SNAP!

You can get the whole center chunk new for under $200. What axle is that? D30?

The front axle in our generation trucks are corporate 7.25" differentials.

If I were to get off my lazy a$$ and start this SAS on my truck, I would send you all the parts you need for dirt cheap! If you can wait a week or two PM me and tell me if you're interested!

Dang! I knew eventually that front diff will go, with those massive tires. Are you sure the damage is only the spiders? I say just replace the spiders if it was the only damage done. Simple swap.

Looks similar to my damage.

I would not recommend welding the front. They need to turn too much.

Lol, I think we all knew it would go :P It did hold on longer than I thought it would. Although I thought you'd go through more cv axles before the diff gave!

My guy wants to know the info on your truck. Year, model, engine, t-case, rear/axle size. He needs to sort out your info to give a price on a new set of gears.

Im going to check local prices tomorrow guys. I appreciate all the willingness to help!

the gears look ok, i spun them around and only a few dings, but not where the gears mesh. got a few dings in the cover too.

ive broken both cv axles now, but its hard to say how many miles were on them.
