Okay after a quick look at 90Vert's pic it looks like the intake doesn't route to it.

Actually, in that pic, it doesn't look like anything is attached to it! That just confused me. Oh well, its hard to say without an older FSM what that is used for. Could be for cooling the computer, could be for reading something about the incoming air. Hard to say.

Holy huge picture RT.

I agree. It doesnt look like anything would attach to it. But gives me an idea to mod the computer cover to run cool air over the computer.

I went to the junkyard the other day. I found this early Dakota, that had what we were talking about. It just has a tube off of the intake, I guess to cool it. But it doesn't restrict the air flow.

I can't view any of the pictures (government computers block all the picture hosting sites), but I viewed the picture in the original link.
As has been discussed, I believe the older computers used that tube to cool the computer. I remember my grandpa's late 80's-something Dodge hatchback had the fittings for these air hoses (with no hoses hooked up). Perhaps his '89 and '90 Dodge mini-vans too.

I remember reading in the Powertrain Diagnostics Book (I think it was), that the newer computers have a special substance inside the computer that helps dissapate heat, which is most likely why the newer computers lack the air hose hookups.

IIRC, my friends '04 Chevy Monte Carlo's computer is mounted inside an air tube.

the early cars have this because of the lack info that they had at the time.
I recently owned a daytona that had this setup. although some are setup wierd like my dayton where the air was run through the computer to the engine...(thats chrysler for ya)

.
the early cars have this because of the lack technology that they had at the time. although you had stated that was for a 93...maybe its for the early years? i'm not sure my truck was manufactured in september of 92(i found the build sheet with my recent project on it. also found a sticker under the carpet from when they put the steering setup in)
what surprises me about that pic Crazy posted is that there isnt a hose coming out of it. hmm...
