I was sitting here trying to figure out why they built the computer casing like this. And finally figured it out and I think thats genius. Can you see what they did? HA!

But my next question is, WHY? Do they have a problem with overheating? And if they do, maybe thats a design flaw that is causing electrical problems. We all know that electricity slows down when things become hot. So... maybe the computer needs fresh air to operate correctly.
And thats the computer that is for a 93. Was compairing prices.

I mean all the computer's components are buried in epoxy to keep out moisture, so any heat built up by them would be pretty well insulated. But they can still definately get hot. I know a guy with a '95 Dakota who put headers on his and the added heat in the engine bay fried his computer, a few sensors and his spark plug wires. Thats why I wrapped my headers... to keep the heat down. And me and Crazy4x4RT did a test and found out the header wrap drops the temp down 200 degrees.

I'm thinking about mocking up some pvc pipe that is the same size as the intake and trimming some half the pvc to fit over the computer vents and sealing it. That would definately keep the heat down.
Ever wonder why the truck ran like crap in the summer? This could be the cause of it all.

I bet the computer acts like a PC when the fan fails. I wouldn't put it past it that the computer starts to studder with to much heat under the hood. Im gonna give it a try on one of my spare computer covers. A piece of PVC pipe and an 90. I bet that will keep that computer cold. Whats the worst that could happen? Im out $5 for the cost of PVC.
