Default cranks but no start

after rebuilding my 318 using all the same sensors that it already had
the truck will crank but not start. i have codes for intake air temp. and engine coolant temp. sensors voltage too high or too low. also throttle posisiton sensor circuit or what ever code 24 is. the autro shut down relay closes then opens after key is turned on as it should, but will not close while cranking to start.

any help is appricated

Thanks.

Welcome to DodgeForum!

I dont think the ASD should click on and off. That relay should provide the coil with a constant power. The fuel pump relay should click on to pressurize the system and then click off until you start the truck.

Have you made sure that BOTH the fuel pump AND ASD relays turn on? Are you getting power at the coil? Are you getting spark through all the spark plugs? Have you checked fuel pressure at the rails?

If the relays aren't getting power, its probably the splice that powers them. It is notorious for corroding and failing.

If the relays are on, and the fuel pump is working and the coil has power, but you aren't getting spark, check the ignition wires are all in the proper places and that your distributor is working. Then check the crankshaft position sensor to make sure its working.

Then there is always the possibility that your computer is bad.

Anyway, there are enough ideas for you to start diagnosing your problem.

Are you sure everything was TDC#1 when you put it all back together. If you take a rubber hose or screw driver up to your ear and place it on an injector. That will give you an idea as to if the computer is sending a pulse. Which the computer needs the rest of the sensors in check to do this. I think I said that right.

As 95_318SLT said, check to see if you have spark and/or fuel pressure.

Your going to want to fix those codes though, as that any of those has the possibility of causing issues. (Especially, I'd think, all 3 of those at the same time).

Take off a spark wire and put a screw driver in the wire and see if you have a spark jump to the engine block.

Sounds like it's getting air and fuel...but it needs air, fuel and fire to run. Check for spark and run that rabbit.

I got it running but it has a lot of white smoke that smells very fuely. I grounded the sensor gound wire to a known good ground and it started fine. PCM now has coed 27 which is one or more of the 8 injector control circuits not responding right, how would i test this? also tach and temp guage dont seem to work.

thanks for your help
