I see this issue of the rear speed sensor going with the e-brake light and ABS light on has been beat to death. hahaha

Im having this problem and have been told it could also be low brake pads.

Well I do have low pads but would that actually make a difference? Also if the new pads dont help, how can I test the rear sensor? I read that someone did test the sensor but did not say how?

Im going to check the wiring again and if all else fails, buy a new sensor. What is a good price on one of those sensors? I see there around $40-50?

 

It could be lots of things. If both the brake light and ABS light are on, I'm going to guess its not the rear sensor. Have you checked to make sure the adjusters on the brakes are tight? Have the brakes been bled recently?

 

adjusters seem tight and haven't bled the system at all. I bought the truck last year and the previous owner said his mechanic was saying that it is the low brake pads or rear diff sensor. But the mechanic was set on thinking it was the low pads.

There seems to be a lot of other people having this problem with there rear diff speed sensor?

One more thing, my tach does jump up and down periodically but I think this is a different issue because our years are run by a cable correct?

 

Take an ohm meter and put it on the sensor leads. If it reads a connection, the sensor is good, if it reads no connection the sensor is bad.

 

Mine does the same thing. I've written it off as a bad connection or bad ground. Our tachs are electrical. Its the speedometer in your year that is cable driven.

 

Good to know, maybe the tach really is related to this ebrake/ABS problem.
