Default Help Diagnose Stuttering

My 94 v6 is stuttering on acceleration. Sometimes feels like it going to stall out. I had a distributor go out on an integra once and it feels similar, cruising along and suddenly engine is stumbling. Before i replace the fuel pump, what can i do to check things off the list. I know there is a common problem with the rotor connections on these trucks. Should i do a fuel pressure test? All ideas would be great. Parts are a little more expensive on big island hawaii than mainland so i want to avoid changing out parts if i don't have to. I've done plenty of part swaps on different cars but my diagnosis skills are lacking. Thanks!

Yes start by testing the fuel pressure. Then check your timing, and check all your spark plug wires are correct.

If its not the ignition or fuel causing the problem, I'd say check the TPS and MAP sensors. You can run basic tests on them if you have a multimeter. You can find the procedure for testing them in the FSM (look for the link to download in faq2).

I do have a multimeter to test them and i will later today. Since i don't have a fuel pressure tester I'm looking on ebay. How do i know which setup to buy? I guess i'll need to look at where it connects in my truck. But if you've seen a cheap one that will work on ebay let me know. This is simple stuff i know, but its new to me. I also have the same question about which ball joint tool i should get for the dodge. Can i get one tool that will do the truck and say honda cars?

Get the kind that screws into the fuel rail. Its like a tires valve stem. Just much larger.
