Default 3.9 motor swap

I have an 89 dakota with a 3.9 4x4 5 speed. I was wondering what v8 motor will match up to my bellhousing

Any mopar small block will. But you will blow that V6 transmission fairly quickly. That transmission is only made for a V6. If you need info on a V8 swap check the FAQ2 in this section for several posts on it.

Any small block mopar engine. You probably will want to look for an LA 318 or 360 since they are very easy to come by.

Depends on what you want to run. Carb setup? Throttle body Injection? Multiport injection?

I'm not sure when they started the LA blocks but anywhere from 60-89 will work. Around 90 or so the LA's were Fuel injected. Look for Rams, Vans, Probably even some larger boats cars from the 70's might.

It depends on the motor you get. Here is a link with info you need. Again this is from the FAQ2 with tons more info on the V8 swap. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...ml#post1413374
