oops.
It really all depends on if the oil filter is in good working order or if the bypass valve is open.
You should be fine... the engines I was talking about were gummed up really bad, as in chunks came out of the oil pan.
My recommendation is to run half a can of seafoam in the oil for 10-15 minutes before several consecutive oil changes. Its a good cleaner, but its not as strong as the stuff labeled engine flush, so it will clean the engine out at a slower, safer rate.

1. added quick flush to engine oil.
2. Ran engine idle for around the 5 minute mark.
3. drained oil from oil pan around 15 mins.
4. removed old oil filter - replaced with new filter.
5. replaced engine oil with 5.28 quarts 10-30
Just from doing this..... The engine sounded and felt MUCH healthier. I just can't see anything bad happening (hoping). i should change the oil again soon-ish just to make sure that all the flush and debris and shi* has passed. Thus far I have no regrets.
Good idea. I will be changing it asap. Unfortunately I will have to wait until I get my tax money to do it. I now have access to a complete body shop as I am in school trying to get into the trade so I have a complete restoration/refinishing project going on. Do you think that it'll be ok for a week or 2 on the change?
According to alot of engine manufactures. They recommend using the specified amount of oil. The 5.2 calls for 5 quarts and thats what I put in it. After I put it in the engine. Its always on the top line of the stick. And its always ran fine. If you put a lil extra in, your not getting the best fuel mileage cause the extra oil is creating a drag. Even if you add a lil, you won't do any damage to anything.

Also, I've heard about going up to thicker weight oils based on mileage due to engine wear, a guy told me I should use 10-40 rather than 10-30. Have you heard of this?
