Thinking of scrapping the 2wd
As some know I got a second dakota a 1990 2wd Long bed. I already have the 4x4 which I'm trying to restore/refinish. I have been thinking about just swapping all the good parts out such as fenders tail lights, wiper control lever etc. and doing a cash for clunkers deal. I got the truck for about $250+$50gas. I hate to get rid of it but it's just a money pit.
They offered me $150, which is probably the best I'll get. Which if I bought a new grill new headlight bezels, running lenses, tail lights, fenders, wiper control lever & seatbelts it would cost me tons more. So I'm sort of getting a deal, I guess. The seatbelts aren't in much better shape but they'll do until i get harnesses.
For the 4x4 I'm scrapping the rustoleum since I'm in school for auto body I get to spray my truck for free. The grill on my truck has a crack in it and a few other things wrong with it and one of my headlight bezels is broken. I broke the tail lights myself. On the other truck those parts are fine just need to be re-painted. I just can't wait till it's all done...

So, in other words.... I'll have to look elsewhere for a cheap, but easy to fix up, Dakota.
Darn. Guess it's back to on the look out.
Probably go with a 2WD. Would like a Dakota to drop a 360, probably manual trans in.
I've come to the conclusion that I'll always need a broken down vehicle in my garage.
I can come back and fix my Dakota now, since I've got a 1986 Honda CRX that needs some work.

LOL! I have a 2wd torn all the way down. The frame is bare, the cab, bed, fenders, bumpers, hood, etc are all seperated, and I'm singing a completely different tune. I need to get it out of the garage! Well, not out, but at least back together so it takes up less room! As soon as this SAS gets done, that truck is getting all of my attention.
Well, with how my garage is big enough to comfortably fit 2 vehicles (in other words, it would be classified as a 3 car garage), but they were only smart enough to put 1 single-car garage door on it, my truck is parked at an angle taking up almost all the space.
(I could have parked it facing straight in, but since I was going to be doing a lot of front-end work, I didn't want to be scrunched up against a wall)
I can't wait to get my truck out either. Never mind the fact it's been in there for... 14 months!!

OK... So the truck is running strong! It was just an electrical prob! It had an arc at the coil and my dad simply put some electrical tape on it and it ran great!... I will not be scrapping this thing. My plans are to start fixing it up. I can repair the body damage and respray the vehicle aswell in due time after I get everything mechanical squared away.
