Default blow through turbos

as some of you may know i am starting a build of a 93 dakota 4x4. I have a 408 i plan to drop in. My question is about turbos on a carb. Reasoning i have tons of turbo parts sittin around my old shop mainly a 16g turbo and intercooler, pretty much everything to turbo the 408. Except the manifold. i am sure i could just get some block hugger headers and flip them to route my turbo. I am not very familuar with carb motors this was my first build of one. I wanted to know if anyone knew about turboing small block mopar? Mainly what carb to use or will my 800cfm edelbrock work. Thanks guys

I'm not a carb guy. I personally HATE them!!

But we have a few links of guys who put them in a Dakota. These are in the FAQ2.

Performance Adders Turbo, Supercharger, Nitrous Oxide (NOS)

Way back in the day, when a brother of mine was still in high school, he knew a guy with a carbureted turbo setup.

The biggest challenge is the lack of the kind of fine fuel adjustment across the entire rpm range that you need for a turbo app. and you really can't get that with a carb without a whole lot of adjustment of the needle valves and jets. You generally will need to build setup that will purposely run really rich right from the start and slowly bring the enrichment down. Cold start will also be a major tunning issue as well.

This is where a wide-band O2 system with data logging comes in, like Innovative's LC1, retail ~$150. Its a snap to set up and you can wire up a digital AFR gauge to the controller as well, for real-time display while you drive, allowing you to keep track of the AFR while you drive, just in case for some reason the engine begins to dangerously lean-out, which could lead to detonation.

I don't know much about turbo carbed cars but I do believe that little 16G would be pretty small for a 408. I am building a turbo set up for my corolla and have a 16G but would like a lil bigger turbo for my puny 1.6L even, either way a turbo dakota 4wd would be NIOCE!!

ok i got a game plan now i am finding all the peices and welding up my headers to go into a y pipe and putting the turbo flange on it. i still have my wideban from my neon. and this weekend it is off to phil's garage and back on the engine dyno. will post up a video this weekend for u guys. i just really wanna break the 500hp mark and even with a lil snail and a lil boost i think it should be a very easy goal.

the 16g is not enough for the 408. you will need a t70 atleast so you dont over work the turbo.

you would be better off running EFI heres a link to mega squirt http://www.megasquirt.info/

Exactly what I was trying to say.

16g is tiny compared to what you need.
