LOL yeah, I know right? Of all the things that people were worried about clearing, the only thing that's in the way is the alternator...

So we'll see how it likes running the 318, but I think I'll keep an eye out for someone looking to do a 318-360 swap and trade them PCMs.

I have a 360 PCM that came out of a 98 Ram van. It has the 3 slot connector on the PCM.

I'd use it on my 318 but not that hard up to rewire.

Yeah, there's 60 pins, but only about 50ish are used; either way that would be a lot of solder and heat shrink...

Say, question for you guys, would I be dreaming if I thought that this little 318 is in the 260 hp range at the crank? I mean electric fans, Shorty headers, mildly ported heads, 01 non-EGR modded intake, cam with slightly better lift/duration numbers... I guess the hold back would be the stock PCM if anything huh? I dunno, maybe I'll have to spend the $75 and strap it to the dyno

I found out that vacuuming the engine down can loosen up a few HP.

I forgot what year your engine came from.

5.2L MPFI 230HP 290TQ 1992-1993
5.2L MPFI 220HP 280TQ 1994-1996

So starting with 230 or 220 then those few mods will not equal 30 -40hp. And don't forget all the mileage and wear and tear your engine has to dock it down from stock HP rating.

Guess I'm just spoiled by the diesel world... I turned a few screws, ground a few select places and shimmed a few things and I gained 200hp and 450ft-lbs of torque :P

The engine I have is a 92, I was hoping the 230hp rating on the low lift cam would mean at the very least not having to subtract power for a 100,000 mile engine due to the slightly better cam. I guess I was just hoping to keep up powerwise with the R/T and SXT Intrepids with the HO 3.5 that had 253bhp/258ft-lbs. Like I said, I'll probably end up throwing it on the dyno, or at the very least taking it to the local 1/4 mile. A good accurate scale and a consistent trap speed should be all I need to get a good rough guestimate.

I don't know about that Crazy... depending on the cam, thats could be a big mod! A cam usually makes a huge difference!

Do you have the numbers on that cam?

If you got this computer...

... I bet it would really open up the engine with all those mods you've done!

Well don't worry the R/T and SXT Intrepids you run against at the local 1/4 Dragstrip will have 100,000 mile engines too. And you will have close to 300TQ. That will launch you off the line like no other.

The cam is a stock cam from an `01 360. The specs are in my first post in this thread. But IIRC they are .432/.432 lift, 151/161 adv duration, 109* LSA and I`m not sure where the centerline is, but I installed it 6* advanced to move the powerband up a little... I do know this, it is a snappy little bugger, it definitely picks up rpm quicker than my wife`s 318 did in her 96 ram on a free rev 1/2 throttle snap

I have thought about a performance PCM, but don`t they require 93 octane? I can get 89 for the same price as regular, but 93 cost more than diesel! I kinda wonder what the guys at B&G can do as far as a custom flash is concerned...
