rough cruise in lower gears
I have a 94 dakota sport w/ a 318 out of a 96 ram. I noticed rough driving in lower gears. It seems as if the truck is bucking, or hesitating. It sounds like some of the cylinders shut down almost. I unplugged the IAC and the MAP sensors and it seemed to run fine for alittle while but then started acting up. If I push the clutch in, the hesitation seems to stop and the motor seems to run fine again until i let the clutch back out. Im looking towards the plugs, wires, distributor or IAC to be at falt. If you have any input it will be greatly appreciated.
I dont understand why you think unplugging vital sensors for the computer to run the engine would solve anything?
The IAC would not be the problem. If you can disengage the clutch and the engine idles fine, there is nothing wrong with it. The IAC is not a sensor, it is a soleniod that controls the airflow into the throttle body when the butterfly valves are closed. They are notorious for freezing up, but the typical symptoms of them going bad are the engine stalling as you come to a stop. They do nothing while you have your foot on the gas.
Chances are you need to replace sensors. Unplugging them may have thrown the computer into a "default" mode, masking the problem for a while... just throwing out a theory here, but it sounds like they need to be replaced. I'd start with the o2 sensor and then move on to the MAP sensor, and then move on to the TPS sensor and then to the ECT sensor and then the IAT sensor.

I think thats what ill do then. I took the IAC out today and cleaned it up nice and good since it was pretty dirty. I'll hook the scan tool up to it to see the readings from the O2 sensor then. thank you for the advice 95_318slt. I hope i can get the truck running up to snuff again soon.
