Default Can I run 95 Dakota with out IAC pluged in?

I am still having problems with Dakota not running right after it warms up and am wondering if I can run truck with IAC unplugged? I have replaced every sensor except IAC and MAP and don't have the money till payday. Would it just throw a code or will it shut truck down?

Yes you can run without it plugged in. But if the IAC is dead unplugging will not do nothing. The only thing will be it may not Idle. You will have to keep your foot on the throttle to keep it from dieing. You can do it as a small test to see if the IAC is good, if it acts worse then the IAC is working. But it may be responding slowly.

If it's only having problems running AFTER it warms up, I highly doubt it's an IAC.
But yes, you can run with it unplugged, but you will need to feather the throttle to keep it running.

(1) What is the running problem you speak of? (For example: as soon as it warms up, it starts to miss; OR, as soon as it warms up, it won't idle on its own)
(2) What sensors have you replaced?
(3) What troubleshooting have you done? (For example: checked the auto shutdown relay; OR, visually inspected wires running to IAC; OR, did a resistance check on wires running to the crankshaft sensor)

It's a 3.9l and it starts to miss on run like its out of time or gas fouling plugs. It misses and pings, spits, and sputters after warm up.
I have replaced....
  • O2 sensor
  • Crank Position
  • EGR
  • Complete new distributor with cap and rotor
  • New wires and plugs
  • 2 wire water temp sensor
  • Oil pressure (cracked old one while changing Distributor)
  • PCM
  • Did splices
  • Changed and checked Alternator
  • Swapped out asd relays with fuel pump relays
  • New Cat.
  • Put used transmission in
  • New Coil
  • New Fuel pump
Motor was rebuilt around 40,000 miles ago with new timing chain, oil pump, and any other parts needed in rebuild. Truck ran fine till Transmission swap. I crushed Crank position sensor wire and tried starting it like this. That's why I have been changing all sensors as I might have fried something but now I am down to MAP and IAC. Any help would do.

Also I tried with out IAC and it did same thing except it Idled a little higher.
